This tutorial provides an easy to understand how to configure hardware for GO Business.
OPOS Drivers
Currently only OPOS (OLE for Retail POS) is supported by our software. In order to use any device, the OPOS drivers for the device must first be installed and configured. The OPOS drivers are supplied by the manufacturer of the device. If the manufacturer does not supply these drivers but the device emulates one that does (for example Epson), then you can use the Epson drivers instead. Also the OPOS drivers are only available for the Windows operating system and requires an ActiveX supported browser. It is recommended that you use Internet Explorer for this purpose as it is the only browser that supports ActiveX by default.
OPOS Driver Installation Instructions
- Citizen
- Epson
- Ithaca
- POS-X
- Star Micronics
If you are having issues, please visit our Common OPOS Issues page for a solution to your problem.
Raw Drivers (Legacy)
Warning: It is recommended that you do not use this method if possible, only if all other methods fail. This driver has been marked as "Legacy" and may not be included in future releases of gobusiness.
We also have raw printer drivers for Internet Explorer only, that should work with most receipt printers. This driver operates much the same way as OPOS except for a few restrictions:
- No logo printing
- No barcode printing
- Text may not center evenly
- Cash drawers require ejection codes
To use this driver you must install your regular windows printer driver. Make sure you can successfully test print with windows. ePOS.
We currently do not support ePos. But it is the future of POS device integration for web applications and we hope to support it in the near future.
Hardware Configuration
Once the drivers have been installed and configured you must setup the device in GoBusiness. You can accomplish this by navigation to and editing the till that will be used on this machine. This can be found at Settings -> Tills -> Edit. Tip: For detailed documentation of this screen visit the Edit Till page from our user guide.

To use a POS device with GoBusiness you must indicate that the device is attached. This lets GoBusiness know that you want to use the device. Tip: If drivers for a specific device are causing your browser to crash during use. Simply indicate that the device is not attached and the drivers won't be loaded.
Next you must set the name of the device to match the Logical Device Name giving to the device by the driver. In the event that the device name is blank, a default value is used for each device which are indicated below.
- Receipt Printer - Default Printer
- Cash Drawer - Default Drawer
- Line Display - Default Display
Receipt Printer
GoBusiness currently supports a single receipt printer connected to a terminal. Logo and bar-code printing is only supported with the OPOS drivers.
Logo
It is possible to have you company logo printed on the top of all your receipts. In order to accomplish this you must have the bitmap image you wish to use and it in your "C:" drive with the filename "gobusiness_receipt_logo.bmp". The path to the image should be "C:\gobusiness_receipt_logo.bmp".
Here is an example bitmap to test with: logo.bmp Note: Some printers do not support bitmap printing.
Barcode
Currently all receipts using the OPOS driver will print a code 128 barcode on the bottom of the receipt. There are not options for configuring the barcode as of yet.
Cash Drawer
Note: When connecting your cash drawer to your receipt printer it is very important you use the correct interface cable from the manufacturer. If you would like to create your own interface cable we have started documenting the info necessary here
GoBusiness supports a single cash drawer. You can connect your cash drawer to your printer and the drawer will open on the print command. Cash drawers require the correct interface cable to be used with there printer in order to operate correctly.
Line Display
GoBusiness supports text line displays of 2 lines and 20 characters. The recommended customers display is the Epson DM-D110 with a serial interface. The two line limit is hard coded, for displays with more than 2 lines only the first 2 will be used.
