Your system is designed to use Customer Discounts, Sales, and Promotions to offer your customer the best deal. However, on top of those discounts, you may choose to offer an additional discount.
For example, you may be selling some items 25% off (by using Sales or Promotions), and if anyone spends $500 on one transaction (before taxes and shipping), you'd like to offer them 10% off. To give them that extra 10% off, use Additional Discounts.
Additional Discounts requires the sub-total to be equal to or greater than a set threshold.
Go to Settings.
Under the Promotions Heading, choose Additional Discounts.
There are three types of additional discount:
By Percentage (If the sub-total is equal to or greater than the set threshold, give a percentage off the order)
By Dollar Amount (If the sub-total is equal to or greater than the set threshold, give a dollar amount off the order)
Reward Item (If the sub-total is equal to or greater than the set threshold, add an item to the order and set the price of that item to $0.00)

Name: Give the discount a name
Start Date: Set the date the discount will commence.
End Date: Set the date the discount will terminate OR select the No End checkbox.
Value: Only selectable when Value Type is Dollars Off or Percentage Off. Enter the amount of the discount
Value Type: Set whether the amount of the discount is by dollar amount or percentage, or if it is a reward item.
Compatibility: Only selectable when Value Type Reward Item is selected. You can choose to make the Reward Item offered with other additional discounts, or without.
Minimum Subtotal: This is the threshold, before tax and not including shipping, which must be met to activate the additional discount.
Status: Set Active or Inactive.
